Letter from Administration

Welcome to Gregg Anderson Academy!

We are delighted to be part of the Gregg Anderson Academy family, the proud home of the Aviators. As the flagship elementary school of the Westside Union School District, we are honored to serve our community and to represent the very best of California education. Gregg Anderson is a school of choice, and we embrace the tradition of wearing uniforms to create a sense of unity and pride.

At our core, we are committed to helping every child succeed. Our teachers provide instruction aligned with state standards while placing a strong emphasis on STEM—Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math—through the use of AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) strategies that build critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Our school carries the name of Mr. Gregg Anderson, the visionary developer of Rancho Vista, the Antelope Valley’s first master-planned community. A devoted supporter of education, Mr. Anderson contributed generously to school libraries, reading programs, and student field trips, leaving a lasting legacy of opportunity and enrichment.

Gregg Anderson Academy opened in August 2012 as a kindergarten through sixth-grade campus. We are also home to Westside District’s Mod/Severe K-5 program, which includes specialized spaces such as a kitchen, Adapted Physical Education and Occupational Therapy rooms, and other resources that support independence and growth for all learners.

Our dedicated and highly qualified teachers, staff, families, and community partners work together each day to create an environment where students feel safe, supported, and inspired to achieve their best. Because of this shared commitment, Gregg Anderson Academy is recognized as a California Distinguished School.

Together, we will continue to make Gregg Anderson Academy a place where learning thrives and where we can all be proud to say: We are Aviators!
