Parent Info
Dear Parents,
In order for your student to do their assignments from home, they will need to be able to access the online curriculum and Google tools. Once you have your Wi-Fi set up on your student’s Chromebook. They will use their full email address and password to create an user on the Chromebook. If you are uncertain of their this information, please let me know and I will send you the information.
Once they log into the Chromebook, the Google browser opens up to their User Dashboard. This dashboard is the main access point for Google tools (Classroom, Drive, Slides, Docs, etc.) as well as their curriculum: Think Central (K-5 ELA and 6th Math), Connect Ed (K-5 Math and 6-8th ELA), Savvas (K-5 Science and Social Studies, TCI (6-8 Social Studies), and MyHrW (7-8 Math).
They will also have a folder on their Favorites bar on the top left hand side of the browser called ‘School Links’. There is a link for the Google Dashboard there, but also a link to NWEA Map Growth Test, IXL, and Amplify (6-8th Science). Below is a sample from a 5th graders’ Chromebook browser:
If you are using a computer with a Chrome browser we recommend the following the instructions on the following video. It will allow you to create a specific browser for your student so that they can link their school account. This will look similar to their Chromebook, so that they can use the dashboard and School links to get to their materials. This school account will have the same filters as at school, and allow for the teacher to monitor their progress better. Please watch the video for more information: https://youtu.be/UpI5f7X9CGs
*All students qualify to receive a free lunch and breakfast this 22-23 school year. Students will need to let their teacher know in the morning if they are planning to get a school lunch, however parents are not required to set up a school lunch account this year.
*During AM drop-off, all students enter through the main gate closest to the Kindergarten corridor. Parents are allowed to park in the parking lot and walk across the crosswalk to drop off their student or pick up their student in the large grass area (after school). Please remember that if you choose to park you must enter the parking lot by turning left (into Lane 2). You will be required to head east on Ave N8 to make a left hand turn. If you are picking up your student using the valet (Lane 1), please ensure you are turning right into the parking lot, and that you have your child’s name/grade level in the passenger side window. Students who have Kindergarten siblings must exit through the twirl gate. Kindergarten students are only dismissed from the lower parking lot. Kinder parents must park on the street and line up behind their teacher’s cone to pick up their Kinder student. As we have many new families joining our Aviator family, we appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we work to re-establish our drop-off and pick-up protocols.

Uniform Complaint Procedures
The Westside Union School District has the primary responsibility for compliance with federal and state laws and regulations. We have established Uniform Complaint Procedures (UCP) to address allegations of unlawful discrimination, harassment, intimidation, and bullying, and complaints alleging violation of state or federal laws governing educational programs, the charging of unlawful pupil fees and the non-compliance of our Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP).
